Our final program in the series, on Wednesday, July 29, will feature two new construction homes, located in Evanston, IL, Oak Park, IL and Crown Point, IN, that prioritized health, wellness and durability as much as high energy performance.

Homes featured during this session will include...

  • Cool Sustainable Home: This Evanston, IL home features a series of techniques and technologies that will help it achieve a predicted energy use 40% less than baseline. The home features a high efficiency HVAC system combined with an air to air heat exchanger, solar photovoltaic panels. It is also prewired for a battery back up system and EV charging stations in the garage.
  • House of the Rising Sun: This Crown Point, IN home was designed and constructed to be a low toxicity, healthy, net zero energy home. This home is durable, fire, mold and insect resistant. Comfort, health, and energy efficiency were the key priorities for the homeowner. In addition, this step free, ADA compliant property ensures a smooth transition to aging in place.
  • Sustainability with Style: This Oak Park, IL historic home, built in the1890s, features renovations focused on a careful balance between energy conservation, aesthetics, indoor air quality and practicality. Projects in this home included reusing and reconditioning the radiators and adding new energy-efficient boilers and ceiling fans to circulate air 3 seasons of the year.
