Event Description

Join BE+ for an in-person building tour of the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) in Allston, MA, a mixed-use innovation district transforming a formerly underutilized site into a connected campus for research, housing, hospitality, retail, and public space.

Led by Tishman Speyer and Breakthrough Properties in partnership with the Harvard Allston Land Company (HALC), the first phase of the campus brings together One Milestone, a two-building laboratory and office complex; Verra Apartments; The Atlas Hotel; the David Rubenstein Treehouse Conference Center at Harvard University, plus 40,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and more than two acres of publicly accessible open space.

During this guided tour, the project team will share how sustainability strategies were integrated across buildings and at the campus scale, from embodied and operational carbon reduction to healthier materials, water management, climate resilience and occupant well-being.

Highlights of the Tour - 

The tour will include stops at and discussion of the following campus buildings and spaces:

• David Rubenstein Treehouse – Harvard’s first University-wide conference center and a model for sustainable design. Learn about its mass timber structure, low carbon concrete, all-electric systems, rooftop solar array, water management strategies, healthier materials, and indoor air quality strategies.The project is pursuing the Living Building Challenge Core and Materials Petal certifications.
• Allstonway – explore the campus’ publicly accessible open spaces and pedestrian connections, and learn how landscape design and green infrastructure, plus stormwater retention, infiltration and rainwater reuse contribute to climate resilience and a community-oriented public realm.
• One Milestone – a two-building laboratory and office complex with high-performance building systems, energy efficiency, water management, and low-carbon materials integrated into a research-focused environment.
