Emerging Trends Series: Regional Offshore Wind Strategies
Event Description

The northeastern United States has a pipeline of over 22 gigawatts of Offshore Wind projects off of our coasts and the first large scale project has commenced construction. If our region is going to meet its increasingly ambitious climate reduction targets and clean energy goals, offshore wind resources must play a core role in delivering clean electricity, with somewhere between 63 to 74 GW of capacity across New England and New York. The scale of Offshore Wind has been tantalizing both for the clean energy it can deliver and for the economic engine it can become. However, it can also create inefficient competition among neighboring states as each vies for their piece of the pie--in terms of jobs, tax revenue, and prestige.

This then begs the question: is there a better way? Although notoriously difficult, states in our region have worked together when their interests are sufficiently aligned. Does the emerging offshore wind industry represent such an opportunity? Can the pie be bigger for all if northeastern states work together? Come hear our panel of experts wrestle with these questions and more.
