Event Description
This course covers the calculations, procedures, and documentation required to complete an ACCA Manual D duct design. Participants will learn how to calculate friction rate, determine total equivalent length, size ducts using the velocity method, and properly balance supply and return air systems.
The course will also explain how duct fittings, static pressure, and equipment airflow affect overall system performance, comfort, efficiency, and noise levels. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of how to translate Manual J and Manual S results into a complete duct design that delivers the required airflow to each room.
Lessons Learned
1. Understand that balanced supply and return airflows are crucial for maintaining indoor health by ensuring proper ventilation and air quality in living spaces for achieving Phius and LEED v4 BD+C Homes EA Prerequisite Minimum Energy Performance.
2. Analyze the influence of duct fittings on system pressure loss to enhance safety by minimizing the risk of system failures and ensuring efficient operation.
3. Introduce the velocity method for duct sizing to promote welfare by optimizing energy efficiency and comfort in HVAC systems for occupants, thus achieving Phius and LEED v4 BD+C Homes EA Prerequisite Minimum Energy Performance.
4. Articulate the importance of static pressure calculations to ensure the effective performance of the duct system, which contributes to a healthier and more comfortable environment that achieves Phius and LEED v4.1 Residential EA Prerequisite Minimum Energy Performance.
