Buildings of Excellence: Mahesh Ramanujam on the Future of Carbon Neutral Buildings, 1/22, NYC
Event Description

Join the Building Energy Exchange, New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA), and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for a rare presentation from Mahesh Ramanujam, President & CEO of USGBC.  Long the benchmark for high performance buildings, the LEED green building standard has evolved to incorporate net zero goals in carbon, energy, water, and waste with the LEED Zero certification program.  Mr. Ramanujam will describe the development of this new complement to traditional LEED certifications within the context of innovative new programs like the New York State Buildings of Excellence awards.

Unique People Services and Magnusson Architecture and Planning will provide a practical frame of reference for this discussion through a presentation of their innovative 2050 Grand Concourse project.  This innovative 13-story project will provide nearly 100 units of affordable housing in Fordham Heights, the Bronx, and is pursuing LEED Gold certification.

A reception will follow moderated discussion and audience dialogue.
