Accelerating to Zero Tour at BNY, July 28, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Event Description

The BNY Pittsburgh Office Redevelopment at 500 Ross Street represents a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainability and its historical ties to the Pittsburgh region.

As the first phase of a multi-phase transformation, this project achieved LEED Gold Certification on January 16, 2026, earning 68 points under the LEED v4 Interior Design and Construction (ID+C) rating system. This redevelopment serves as a pivotal hub for BNY’s global operations, reinforcing Pittsburgh’s role as a critical center for innovation and expansion.

Join Green Building Alliance, evolveEA, and BNY for a tour of the 145,000-square-foot project featuring modernized office and retail space, including the building lobby and floors 7, 9, and 13.

Energy and water efficiency were both core focuses of the redevelopment, resulting in performance improvements and significant cost savings. The project site is located in a “Walker’s Paradise” with a Walk Score of 99 and a “Rider’s Paradise” with a Transit Score of 93. Sustainable material selection and waste management were prioritized, and the project successfully diverted 75% of construction and demolition waste.

Strategies like air testing, use of low-emitting materials, inclusive design, and implementation of green cleaning practices all contribute to the enhancement of the health and well-being of building occupants.

During the tour, evolveEA will share their insights on these highlights and the LEED certification process in the related credit categories.

Participants Will -

  1. Gain insight into advanced LEED ID+C strategies and certification outcomes and how the project achieved LEED Gold Certification under LEED v4

  2. Learn about performance-driven design approaches and the integration of energy and water efficiency strategies within a complex office redevelopment

  3. Hear from project experts about health outcomes through the implementation of materials, IAQ, and green cleaning protocols

  4. Accelerate to Zero: Discuss how the project aligns with Pittsburgh 2030 District and Resilient Community energy, water, and decarbonization goals.
