Event Description

Join your local Living Future Collaborative for a live-viewing of the International Living Future Institute’s online course, Intro to “Living” Affordable Housing. Our future is sustainable only if all people have opportunities to live in healthy and affordable homes. The Living Building Challenge™ is a building certification program, advocacy tool, and philosophy that defines the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment possible today.

This session will explore environmental, health, and equity issues critical to affordable housing and discuss ways to positively address these issues through the framework of the Living Building Challenge. Real-world examples of affordable housing projects that are leading the way to a Living Future will be presented along with some of the strategies they are using to rapidly diminish the gap between current limits and the end-game positive solutions we seek. This course will also touch on ways these projects can act as catalysts for positive change in their larger communities.
