Pro Tour: Low Embodied Carbon in a Zero Energy, Straw Panel Farmhouse, October 30, Southbury, Connecticut
Event Description
Join NESEA in Connecticut for a Pro Tour featuring an exciting collaboration between two NESEA Bottom Lines members (Wolfworks and Rare Forms), showcasing a new, single family home, built from straw panels to reduce embodied carbon.
The client was interested in creating a low impact high performance home that will produce all the energy required for their farm. This tour will dig into the logistics of collaborating with a panel fabricator, detailing the assembly to maximize installation efficiency and identifying assemblies and materials utilized on this project to stay within the clients budget.
Your day will start with an opening presentation from the hosting companies, including sharing more about the process of the panel manufacture and the business and environmental case for this approach.
Then you'll travel to the site where you will then break into small groups to hear more from the project team, allowing for a comprehensive look at the work going into this home. After the tour, you’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other.
