This one-hour program enables participants to gain an understanding of the use of different living wall systems both indoors and out, and in various climates. Attendees will discover the design considerations and positive effects of living walls on the built environment; and, explore case studies of a variety of living wall systems and their performance after installation, evidence-based research citations, and compelling photography.

Learning Objectives:

Master various project design criteria for architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and horticultural considerations and costs.

Discover features, advantages, differences, and challenges of various living walls (also known as green walls) systems.

Understand the importance of maintenance and the ongoing cost associated with keeping plants alive in a living wall installation.

Comprehend best practices of presented project case studies. We will be discussing the following:

  • Current Living Wall technologies (pros, cons, pricing)
  • Interior vs exterior Living Walls in various climates
  • Benefits for the occupants and the built environment
  • Considerations for design, installation and maintenance
  • Case studies of installations & performance
  • Installation time-lapse videos
