Every organization and everyone can submit to Rate It Green's green building calendar! Simply click register, verify your email address, and create a username and password. You can then decide if you'd like to engage more fully as a community member, but you'll be able to post events.

We welcome praise and advice and even criticism but all posted content and ratings should be constructive in nature. Passive House 101: An Introduction to Passive Buildings, Virtual Event, May 2, 3-5pm
Event Description
In this course, They will provide an overview of the Passive House building standard including certification metrics, common design elements, and net-zero potential, as well as the impacts Passive House has on carbon and health. Examples of various building types will be presented and information on funding opportunities will be provided. Get your questions answered on what Passive House is and how to achieve it, and see how it is expanding throughout the state and region. Both standards will be discussed.
Learning Objectives
• Learn what the Passive House standard is and what the requirements are.
• Learn about design & construction elements of success projects.
• Learn about the energy, carbon, and health benefits of PH buildings.
• Learn from examples of built projects in the region.
Passive House 201: Technical Aspects of Design & Construction is on May 16
This session will take a deeper look into common design & construction strategies for achieving the Passive House standard. Concepts will include building envelope & insulation, air tightness, thermal bridging, testing & verification, and mechanical systems. A brief review of Passive House basics will be included, though some familiarity is recommended. Both standards will be discussed.
Learning Objectives
• Learn about designing projects to the Passive House standard and details to focus on, including thermal & air barriers.
• Learn about common construction issues and strategies to successfully build PH projects.
• Learn about methods to achieve PH air tightness metrics and conduct testing & verification on the envelope.
• Learn about mechanical systems, including VRFs, heat pumps, and ERVs, and things to consider when designing for them.
