Wednesday, October 18: Welcome to the 2017 Florida Energy Summit
      12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m Registration Desk Open

      1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Broward County Energy Tours

Tour 1: Port Everglades Next Generation Clean Energy Center Tour The Port Everglades Next Generation Clean Energy Center, located adjacent to Port Everglades, is one of the most modern and technologically advanced plants in the country. Come and learn all about FPL’s world-class clean energy generation fleet (fossil fuels and solar) which result in operating efficiencies and lower costs to customers. You will get a hard hat tour of the plant’s turbines and learn how the plant generates electricity.

Tour 2: Broward County Cogeneration Project and Advance Roofing’s PV Display See firsthand how Broward County has reinvented its aging water and wastewater treatment facility into a modern facility that uses cogeneration from biogas to offset 25 percent of its electricity needs. The facility uses recycled fats, oils, and grease to create additional methane for generating electricity. With guaranteed savings of more than $26 million over 17 years, the water and wastewater treatment facility ensures a more environmentally and economically healthy future for Broward County residents.

Following the water and wastewater tour, we will visit Advanced Roofing’s headquarters to see their custom solar carport. The solar carport can produce over 124,000 kilowatt hours of energy per year–the equivalent of powering 25 average U.S. homes. With this solution, Advanced Roofing is now powering up to 90 percent of its Fort Lauderdale operations through clean energy.
