Dallas 2030 Lunch & Learn Education Series: Building Envelope
Event Description

Join the Dallas 2030 for our Lunch & Learn on Building Envelope with Coverstro and Carlisle on June 22nd.
Tim Thiel from Covestro will be discussing:
Spray Polyurethane Foam is:
• One petroleum-based product that is not burned and has a long life.
• Two part foamed seamless barrier that protects occupants.
• A solution of choice at an increasing pace – residential and commercial.
It helps to provide:
• Improved building envelope integrity and performance:
• Highest R-value thermal barrier
• Barrier to moisture
• Barrier to air infiltration
• Barrier to vapor
• NFPA 285 compliant wall solutions
Frank Forrest from Carlisle will be discussing:
Now that you have utilized SPF to gain the benefits Tim discussed, let me touch on how this can and will impact your mechanical systems within your building.
· In addition, your temperature set-points will change for the better and this will give shorter run time as well. Will elaborate further on this in the presentation.
· Exterior walls will not leak as much as prior to SPF application.
o Make-up air needs to be checked as well as required outside air changes
· If VFD controlled system, the system will adjust accordingly.
o Positive side to this is you do not have to re-balance the system
o Negative side to this is you are missing the identification of the cost savings
· SPF application on exterior walls will also change the pressure differentials on the walls of the building.
· Interior separation of areas need to be reviewed if you do not rebalance your system. Issues can arise dies to pulling make-up air or over-delivering air.
· Tie this all back in to the IAQ benefits and cost savings that can be missed
