Job Opportunity: Community Engagement and Design Intern at Enterprise Community Partners, Boston, Massachusetts

Enterprise Community Partners is dedicated to expanding our understanding of the role of design in community development – from architectural design of affordable housing to urban planning and community engagement to design thinking as a process for innovation. The Design team at Enterprise is a national voice in the community design movement. Our team is responsible for managing the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship and producing tools, resources, and convenings for the community development field on issues of design and social equity.

The Community Engagement and Design Intern will be an appreciated contributor to all of the programs carried out on our small, dynamic and growing team, and will have valuable exposure to the leading work around design for social impact and community development. The Community Engagement and Design Intern will support the Rose Fellowship and other Design Leadership initiatives through concise, strategic, and visually compelling content and messages that can promote our work and engage key collaborators in an almost exclusively online format. There may be additional opportunities to improve internal processes and to work on proposals and grant programs.

The position requires strong project management, written and oral communication skills, experience and fluency in best-practices with online marketing, and the ability to think strategically about our work and the messages we use to communicate that work. Our small team collaborates closely and often, work together in a fast-paced environment is also extremely important.

This internship position is full-time for six months, based in our Boston, MA office.

Job Responsibilities:

Serve as the ‘Managing Editor’ of the Rose Fellowship blog and all social media handles by maintaining current, visually appealing, and engaging content, and suggesting new and innovative ways to reach new audiences.
Promote the Rose Fellowship application processes for both new host organizations and new fellow candidates through social media, online postings, webinars, mailings, conferences and other speaking engagements, and new materials.
Be the champion for forging new and improved relationships with our Rose Fellow alumni, as well as future fellowship applicants.
Coordinate the production of monthly newsletter, including a call for content, formatting, and distribution.
Maintain and suggest new ideas for the blog and social media editorial calendar.
Responsible for creating department PPT presentations, print and online resources, and other graphics.
Collaborate with Online Services to update related websites with new materials, opportunities, and information.
Maintain the office’s conference opportunities calendar, and independently research and identify new opportunities for the office.
Assist with the Rose Fellowship outcomes framework by analyzing baseline data, improving tracking system, and formatting the reporting dashboard.
Research emerging trends, policies and design development tools for professionals in the public-interest design and community development fields.
Work on special projects and events, as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or current graduate student, preferably in Communications, Design, Architecture, Urban Planning, or other related fields.
Strong technical skills in graphic design programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as a well-defined visual aesthetic are required for the position.
Strong communication and writing skills and ability to use Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience using social media and web-based platforms for achieving business communications.
Attention to detail and ability to track multiple projects at the same time.
Ability to complete research and writing assignments independently.
Interest, knowledge and/or experience in public-interest design, green building, and community development.
Demonstrated experience with publication schedules or editorial calendars, and /or Mailchimp or other email marketing software, a plus.
