Gingerbread Passive House Competition
Event Description

Come to Urban Green Council's second annual Gingerbread Passive House Competition and show off your building skills!

Urban Green Council and New York Passive House members are encouraged to form teams to create the ultimate passive house structure… made of gingerbread. Illustrate Passive House principles using only edible materials typically used in gingerbread houses (think: spreadable marshmallow as insulation). This will be a fun event whether you are a Passive House (or gingerbread house) expert or novice.

Teams (maximum of four people) will be provided with a basic gingerbread house kit to build a gingerbread house with visible passive house details.

Each team will be given 45 minutes to complete their designs and 5 minutes to explain their approach. Of course, a gingerbread house will not pass a blower door test, but teams should avoid thermal bridges!

Points will be awarded for accuracy, creativity and presentation. Participants are encouraged to bring their leftover candies and other edible gingerbread-making materials.
