If you’re in the market for decking materials, check out Matt Hoots' interview with Patrick Barnds from Azek at the International Builders Show/Kitchen & Bathroom Show!

Patrick shares a window into recent developments at Azek and in this industry segment which includes capped composite and capped polymer decking.  After introducing wide and multi width decking last year, Azek introduced a new wide width board this year that installs 30% faster and uses 30% fewer materials - leading to both labor and material savings.

Patrick also discusses Azek's Reserve Collection, which has a wire brushed look and has a design developed from literally scanning antique reclaimed barn wood.  The idea is to make grain looks that are as realistic as possible, a factor that can help with consumer appeal and therefore more widespread adoption.

We also get an introduction to Azek’s focus on sustainability.  The company is working to include as much recycled content as possible in its products, which can include wood dust from cabinet and flooring manufacturers which might otherwise be burned or land filled, bottles, film, wrap and other existing materials.

We look forward to learning more about Azek’s composite decking - thanks Patrick!
