NESEA Green Building Pro Tour: Award Winning Net-Zero Home & Teaching Tool, Friday, August 18, Watertown
Event Description

Green Building Pro Tour: Award Winning Net-Zero Home & Teaching Tool
Northeast Sustainable Energy Association
Friday, August 18
Watertown, Connecticut

CEUs Pending: 2.5 AIA LU/HSW, 2.0 BPI, and certificates of participation are available

This Pro Tour features an international award-winning, highly efficient home designed to serve as a teaching tool for sustainable building while seamlessly blending into the historic neighborhood that surrounds it. Attendees can expect a close look at the process that made this building a reality, from concept to design to materials selection to performance data.

The Taft House's traditional and historically-appropriate Greek revival exterior shows little of the inner workings that make it an exemplar of sustainable, energy-efficient building technology. This is because the team at Trillium Architects, under the leadership of Elizabeth DiSalvo, created a home that demonstrates that high-performance can be high-design. These intangibles can be traced back to some very tangible design decisions around air-tight, super-insulated envelopes, and careful material and mechanical selections.

The Taft Faculty House has been recognized with the following awards: 2016 Green Buildings Solutions Award, 3rd Place (International); USGBC LEED Home Outstanding Single Family Project, 1st Place (National); U.S.D.O.E. #1 National House of the Year 2015 1st Place (National); CTGBC Award of Honor 20151st Place (CT) ; CT Zero Energy Challenge 3rd Place 2014
