Green Buildings, Policy Making, Newton MA
Event Description

Newton's new multifamily buildings can benefit the environment--or not. This workshop will bring city decision-makers up to speed on current green building practices.

Join Passive House Massachusetts and Green Newton for a discussion to help understand Passive House implementation in multifamily buildings, the concept of embodied carbon in construction, and the importance of electrifying heating and cooling systems.

The presenters will address questions like: What does Passive House certification entail? How is it different from LEED? How much more energy efficient is Passive House than the MA energy stretch code? How do Passive House buildings compare in construction and operating costs? What is the difference between LEED and Passive House "certifiable" and actual certification? What is the best pathway for a net-zero building? What are upfront costs and operating costs for "electrified" heat pumps to heat and cool buildings? What does PV "solar ready" mean?
