Event Description

Tune in for the latest episode of Radio BE-Ex, where Jamal Lewis (Director of Climate, Energy, and Health at the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative) joins Yetsuh Frank to discuss equitable strategies for achieving decarbonized, efficient, healthy and safe housing.

Decarbonizing our housing stock does not just involve the buildings themselves. Understanding the connections between clean energy, equity, and health is key to developing effective solutions for all. In addition to addressing the climate crisis, holistic climate policies can bring vast returns on investment in the form of non-energy benefits: improved health and comfort, decreased building vacancy, reduced maintenance costs, and improved workplace productivity to name a few. With expertise in energy efficiency and healthy home interventions, Jamal Lewis speaks to opportunities for accessible, clean and efficient energy programs and policies, particularly for low-income residents and Black and Brown communities, and the importance of measuring the racial, health and social impact of these efforts.

Radio BE-Ex is a live podcast series by Building Energy Exchange that features industry leaders working at the intersection of buildings, energy, and sustainability. The Radio BE-Ex theme for 2021 is Radical Scale: the people, processes, and technology that will ensure the built environment meets the needs of the future.
