California's Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act - 50% of Consumer Energy to be from Renewable Sources

California has had the most severe droughts in recent years. In the wake of the continued drought, several stakeholders, including State and Federal officials are working diligently together to reduce the social, economic and environmental impact. As the State continues with its plans to mitigate the effects of drought and climate change, California’s Jerry Brown signed the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015 on October 7th. The Jurist report recently reported that the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015 lays down plans to reduce air pollution and increase energy efficiency by creating efficiency targets for electrical and gas companies. The report further states that 50% of electricity sold to retail customers should come from renewable energy.
