Heat Wave Resilience Webinar
Event Description

Extreme heat caused by climate change is impacting cities, agricultural lands and forests across the western United States. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, “Heat waves are occurring more often than they used to in major cities... and their frequency has increased steadily, from an average of two heat waves per year during the 1960s to six per year during the 2010s.” Heat waves have also become more intense, long-lasting and dangerous for cities and neighborhoods where extreme heat is uncommon.

Join USGBC Mountain and Pacific communities on June 22nd to learn how climate change is causing more extreme heat waves and what major western cities are doing to increase community resilience. You'll also hear from Blue Planet Systems, a start-up company creating reflective concrete aggregate from captured CO2.
