Sustainable Event Planning: Learning from Minnesota's Sports Industry,
Event Description

Join us as we partner with Environmental Initiative to explore sustainability leadership and initiatives inside Minnesota’s sports industry. Learning from a sports context, attendees will share best practices of sustainable event planning, facilities management, and community engagement. The session will feature case studies on built environments as well as panel discussion around the opportunities and challenges of planning a sustainable, large-scale event.

ABOUT THE TOPIC
While event planning isn’t “one size fits all,” many of the sustainability lessons learned from Minnesota’s sports industry apply to every type of event or venue in our region. Minnesota is home to leading sports franchises, facilities, and major events that prioritize sustainability, like U.S. Bank Stadium and the St. Paul Saints. From waste and recycling to attendee engagement, these sporting events are becoming greener, and there are things we can all learn from their efforts.

One thing is clear from our leadership so far: partnership at all levels of event planning is becoming more and more essential for pushing our region further. No one entity can create a sustainable event alone, and collaborative efforts between teams, facilities, vendors, public entities, and event attendees is a shared responsibility— and one that can be difficult to navigate. Join us for an important discussion on the infrastructure, planning, and people that go into a sustainable event.
