Event Description

In creating a sustainable building, what if we could create something that helps the people in the community, the people who take care of the building and the people who physically built the building?

What if we really understood how to have a dialogue about the sometimes thorny issues of equity in a way that was collaborative, fruitful and realistic? And what if we had a 2030 Social Challenge as well as a 2030 Building Challenge?

This lecture will provide background on why we separate the needs of people from our design process. We will look at case studies of projects that are incorporating strategies to help the less empowered, at how LEED is approaching these issues and at ways to think about social equity in your projects.
