Soak up the Rain Webinar, Engaging Boston Public School Students in Green Infrastructure Learning- Sept 27, 2:30-3:30pm
Event Description

Back to School with Green Infrastructure:
Linking Green Infrastructure with School Curricula and the Massachusetts Science, Technology and Engineering State Standards

Using natural systems to treat rainwater is a cost-effective, resilient approach to managing polluted stormwater runoff from our rooftops, streets, driveways, and parking areas as well as mitigating the effects of climate change. Come hear how the Boston Water and Sewer Commission, in partnership with Boston Public Schools, is engaging students in green infrastructure experiential learning activities, constructing rain gardens, partnering with watershed groups and connecting new curriculum with the MA STE.

This presentation will discuss practical, hands-on activities that can be used inside and outside the classroom as well as methods and benefits for designing educational opportunities into green infrastructure in the school yard and community. Presentation will also include why the Boston Public Schools decided to incorporate the stormwater green infrastructure curriculum district wide.
