Pro Tour: Deep Energy Retrofit of Historic Apartments in Boston, October 24, Massachusetts
Event Description
Originally built in 1888 as two-story duplex apartments and renovated in 2003, these units are being redesigned and updated to achieve Passive House certification through a comprehensive Deep Energy Retrofit (DER) of the buildings' exterior envelopes. This project is intended to serve as a demo, showing the benefits of passive house guided retrofits that can be done with minimal resident disruption.
Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NSEA) event will begin with an opening workshop where the team will discuss the history, goals, and design and construction strategies. Attendees will then break into small groups to tour the facility while hearing more from the interdisciplinary team of experts who made the building possible. After the tour, we’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other. At a time when affordable and healthy housing is desperately needed, this tour hopes to inspire through the demonstration of thoughtful and innovative building techniques. Join the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NSEA)!
