Get Caught Up on the Orange ButtonSM Initiative (originally named Solar Bankability Data to Advance Transactions and Access).

In this solar industry focused webinar, program leaders will provide an update on Orange Button’s progress in Year 2 and discuss upcoming milestones and how to participate.

The webinar will present information about Orange Button tools including NREL’s recently launched Solar Data Exchange Platform and kWh Analytics’ Solar Data Translation Platform.

Presenters will also discuss Orange Button’s value and how some early adopters plan to use the Orange Button Taxonomy and tools to reduce data transaction complexity, costs, and time, to grow their businesses and advance solar adoption.

    • Aaron Smallwood Senior Director, Technical Services, SEPA
      Aaron has been in Information Technology for 20 years and in the utility industry for the last 15 years. As Director of IT Operations at the Electric Reliability of Council of Texas (ERCOT), Aaron was responsible for the multi-datacenter IT operations of ERCOT’s real-time grid and market systems, deregulated retail market systems, Enterprise Data Warehouse, systems integration, and market settlement systems. In other roles at ERCOT he led business/technology alignment, IT strategy development, program financial management for the Texas Nodal Market Implementation, IT stakeholder relationship management, and the IT divisional project office.

      Tom Tansy Chairman, SunSpec Alliance
      Tom Tansy serves as Chairman of the SunSpec Alliance where he leads the solar industry’s effort to establish data and communication standards that will enable seamless integration of solar PV into the Smart Grid.


      Debbie Brodt-Giles Data Science and Innovation Group Manager, National Renewable Energy Laboratory
      Debbie Brodt-Giles is the Data Science and Innovation Group Manager within the Strategic Energy Analysis Center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. For more than 20 years, Debbie has been leading web-based platform development projects with the goal of making open data accessible and reusable for the benefit of the energy community.

      Chief Operating Officer
      Jason Kaminsky is the COO at kWh Analytics. Just prior to joining kWh Analytics, Jason spent more than three years as a Vice President of Environmental Finance at Wells Fargo Bank. As a senior member of the Wells Fargo deal team, Jason originated, underwrote, and financed tax-equity investments during a time when the bank added nearly $1bn of solar assets. Prior to joining Wells Fargo in 2011, Jason worked at SPG Solar, where he supported the CEO on strategic corporate initiatives.
