Event Description

LEED Tour of the Tampa Bay History Center,
Thursday, March 02,
5:45 PM - 7:30 PM EST

Location:
Tampa Bay History Center,
801 Old Water Street, Tampa, FL 33602

Tickets: USGBC Member – $15.00, Non-Member – $25.00

Join us for this tour of the first Hillsborough County-owned building to achieve LEED Silver Certification. The eye-catching, 60,000 sf facility, completed in 2009, is situated in downtown Tampa along the two-mile Cotanchobee-Ft. Brooke Riverwalk, which connects several of the city’s museums and cultural facilities. Its energy-efficient design integrates low-emissive, argon-filled glazing on windows, and aluminum sunshade extensions allow natural light to pour over the history center’s exterior while preventing solar heat gain. It was built with all regional and renewable materials, such as Marmoleum flooring (long-lasting, nontoxic linoleum made from all-natural components). More than 95 percent of construction debris was diverted from Florida landfills, which was one of many ways the Walbridge project team pursued LEED points.

We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes to tour the building. Tour check-in will be located on the 2nd floor balcony. The tour time will be approximately 6-6:30 with a happy hour (with one drink ticket and appetizers included in the price of registration) from 6:30-7:30 at the Columbia Restaurant.

Presenters:
Claus Daniel
Director of Facilities, Tampa Bay History Center

Terrance Sterett
Project Contractor, Walbridge
