Illinois Solar AND Storage Tour, September 25, Chicago, Illinois
Event Description
The Solar AND Storage Tour is a series of FREE events that feature homes, businesses, and nonprofits throughout the state that have installed both solar and storage on their property. Many sites have also integrated other technologies, such as EVs and heat pumps. During each Tour, hosts open their doors to their community and invite their neighbors in to learn about how to go solar - and invest in storage - from someone who has already been through the process! Each event includes a short presentation on the host's solar & storage story, a tour of their system, and plenty of time for questions and socializing.
System: 30 roof-mounted photovoltaic panels, portable backup batteries, EV, 3 solar thermal panels with 80 gallon storage tank (hot water/space heating), passive solar
Annual Production: 13.4 MWh
Why I went solar: ISEA installed solar energy systems as part of several energy efficiency and decarbonization features of Greenstar Gold home renovation to minimize our dependence on fossil fuel and carbon emissions, which are contributing to the greatest threat to our well-being, the accelerated climate crisis and pollution. The long-term financial benefits of investing in renewable energy and divesting from fossil fuel is also a no-brainer.
Attend a Solar & Storage Tour to:
Learn how home and business owners are utilizing solar, storage, and other clean energies to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels and to become energy independent
Meet people who have renewable energy installations, learn why they did it, the process, what they love about it and lessons learned
Learn about the different technologies and see how they are installed
Hear how different renewable energy technologies work together
Find out all of the ways you can use clean energy to power your life
