Event Description

Southface’s Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater training is a comprehensive course that prepares students to properly test and model residential homes. This training is taught in a live-virtual format. Each day of training is 4 hours, with homework and independent study assigned each week. Students will have access to the RESNET Rater Simulation Practical and RESCaz training simulations and given training access to Ekotrope early in the training to practice with the software prior to the tests and evaluations.  

As a long-time RESNET Training provider, Southface makes every effort to teach the skills and knowledge needed to be a HERS modeler. In addition to the training and testing needed for the RESNET exams, this course also includes one energy model project, which may be accepted by a HERS Rater candidate’s Provider as a provisional model. 

Schedule -

Southface’s HERS Rater Training is broken up into ten individual training days that prepare students to take three online RESNET exams and one field exam. The course schedule is designed to help students internalize dense concepts, retaining the necessary information to pass all required exams. The course schedule breaks up the course content into manageable chunks, allowing students time to learn and process the extensive course curriculum. The ten training days are spread over the course of three weeks followed by one week of exams. Each training day begins at 8:30 a.m. ET and ends at 12:30 p.m. ET.
