Free Webinar: Basics of Lighting Controls, March 12
Event Description

This introductory course on lighting controls provides attendees a practical guide to common lighting control components found in commercial lighting systems. The class will introduce how to use controls to reduce energy consumption of lighting by automating switching and dimming when light is not required. They'll discuss devices such as sensors that detect occupancy or daylight as well as scheduling and other programmed responses. We will emphasize the role of lighting control devices in commercial building systems, the practical application of these devices in building spaces, and the steps required to ensure that these devices deliver on their promise and function successfully.

The objective of this course is that at the conclusion, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the role lighting control devices play in the safe operation of energy efficient lighting systems in architectural applications
  • Identify common lighting components in the field and assess their role in lighting control systems
  • Explain how lighting controls can be networked and the benefit of doing so
  • Apply the commissioning process to lighting controls and describe how start-up differs from commissioning
