Every organization and everyone can submit to Rate It Green's green building calendar! Simply click register, verify your email address, and create a username and password. You can then decide if you'd like to engage more fully as a community member, but you'll be able to post events.
Please make sure to be respectful of the organizations and companies, and other Rate It Green members that make up our community. We welcome praise and advice and even criticism but all posted content and ratings should be constructive in nature. For guidance on what constitutes suitable content on the Rate It Green site, please refer to the User Agreement and Site Rules.
The opinions, comments, ratings and all content posted by member on the Rate It Green website are the comments and opinions of the individual members who posts them only and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies or policies of Rate It Green. Rate It Green Team Members will monitor posted content for unsuitable content, but we also ask for the participation of community members in helping to keep the site a comfortable and open public forum of ideas. Free Online Event, Community Wealth Building: Local Economics for People & Planet, June 13, 7-9pm BST
Event Description
With Community Wealth Building, the aim is instead to keep money in the area, by encouraging an area's big ‘anchor institutions’, such as councils and hospitals, to join together to make sure as much as possible of their supply chain spending goes to local businesses, cooperatives and social enterprises, and to provide the support and training to local people to grow the local businesses that can provide for them.
As well as building the local economy, this allows greater control over how money is spent. Enhancing local control allows local councils and other anchor institutions to accelerate the transition to the green economy. In this way, building jobs and building a green economy are proven to go hand in hand, which will help to make the case for investment at the national scale.
