In this one-hour course, we’ll discuss flexible spaces that use large, vertical openings and their designs and customizations that can contribute to health, safety, and welfare of the building occupants. We will also talk about environmental impacts of your opening’s design and how that can affect your choice in door type and final design.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Identify and articulate customizations and design options to decrease acoustical impacts, or increase energy, and air infiltration efficiency
  2. Confidently discuss safety features, egress needs, and available options to consider for emergency situations
  3. Describe specialty cladding options and potential ratings for impact and wind rated systems
  4. Design and specify safe flexible spaces with minimal environmental impact or hazardous materials
