Climate Week NYC 2017, September 18-24
Event Description

The Climate Week NYC 2017 Affiliate Events program is now open for registrations. Annually, businesses, NGOs, civil society groups, academic institutions and others are offered the opportunity to participate in the iconic week, which this year will take place between 18-24 September.

By registering for the affiliate events program, organizations can host conferences, panel discussions, exhibitions, concerts, and seminars during the week.

Amy Davidsen, Executive Director, North America, The Climate Group, said: “By getting involved in our affiliates events program, organizations and individuals can play a pivotal role in helping to drive awareness, to keep climate change solutions at the top of the global agenda.”

THE FOCAL POINT FOR CLIMATE ACTION
Taking place during the UN General Assembly, Climate Week NYC has become one of the key moments in the international calendar since its launch in 2009.

Annually, the event brings together global leaders from business and government to spur debate on climate change and to showcase pioneering solutions for a cleaner, more prosperous future for all.

Climate Week NYC serves as the collaborative space for climate events in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement, hosting more than 100 Affiliate Events last year.

In 2016, global corporates and NGOs seized the opportunity to showcase key solutions and demonstrate the business case for climate action during the Climate Week NYC affiliate events program. Philips Lighting and the World Green Building Council hosted a special event that included a call for all new buildings to adopt energy efficient LED lighting by 2020 and for all existing buildings to use LEDs by 2030.
Other affiliate events included the world premiere screening of Years of Living Dangerously Season Two, launched by National Geographic Channel at the American Museum of Natural History, where celebrity correspondents highlighted the urgency to act on climate change and to spread the message globally in a rigorous, engaging way.
