All Electric ADUs, May 16, 4-5:30 pm, Santa Barbara, California
Event Description
ADUs are an important source of housing development all over California. They are especially well suited to all-electric design. This class will cover the key systems in an all-electric ADU and draw on the ADU recently built by the instructor out of Structural Insulated Panel System (SIPS). Still, other building envelopes will also be covered, including more traditional wood-framed structures and modular ADUs. 3RCEN will use energy modeling to contrast utility bills and Greenhouse Gas Emissions of mixed fuel and all-electric homes, as well as actual data from the real-life operation of the ADU, which is currently being monitored circuit by circuit. The financials will also be prominently featured so that attendees considering building an ADU can make an informed decision and see how attractive the economics typically are.
