Heat Pump Water Heaters Webinar
Event Description

Slipstream conducted a detailed monitoring study and survey to research the applicability of heat pump water heaters (HPWH) in cold climates. The field monitoring research focuses on characterizing HPWH performance and quantifying the impact of an HPWH's "cooling effect" on the home's space heating load.

In addition, over 80 households who have installed HPWHs in Michigan participated in a survey to shed light on the owner experience. Join us to see how the Slipstream team used innovative marketing direct to customers and contractors to increase adoption of this important technology for energy efficiency and decarbonization.

Lessons Learned

  • Quantify the energy savings potential of heat pump water heaters based on installation in MI compared to rated efficiency
  • Identify the settings that could lead to a lack of hot water and compressor shut down
  • Learn marketing and incentive strategies to increase adoption
  • Identify purchasers’ motivations to purchase heat pump water heaters
