Event Description

Westfield Century City Green Building Tour

Please join the USGBC-LA Westside Branch for a walking tour of the newly redeveloped Westfield Century City lifestyle center, one of URW's flagship properties on the west coast, which was recently certified LEED-CS Gold! This billion-dollar redevelopment project boasts more than 1.1 million square feet of lettable area and is adorned by acres of open space and beautifully landscaped outdoor plazas.

URW's commitment to sustainability is exemplified by this center, which has taken steps to support not only the wellbeing of its occupants but also to reduce its environmental impact through green building design. Their goals are to create better buildings, better communities, better connectivity, and better collective power. By taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint and increase water, energy, and waste efficiencies, URW aims to set a precedent for how large urban, commercial centers should be built and operated.

The tour will be led by members from URW as well as the Gensler and Zinner Consultants LEED team, which includes Stacy Olson (LEED AP, Gensler), John Zinner (LEED Fellow, Zinner Consultants), Anthony Brower (LEED AP, Gensler), Denise Braun (LEED AP, Zinner Consultants), and Beth Brownlie (LEED AP, Zinner Consultants)!

They will be teaching us more about the shopping center’s design elements, the key green building/sustainability strategies that were implemented, and the complexities and challenges of LEED certification for a large and diverse center.

Come join other USGBC-LA chapter members for an evening of networking and learning in the vibrant, new Westfield Century City!
