Tour of the New Tobin Montessori and Darby Vassall Schools, June 15, Cambridge, Massachusetts
Event Description
Join the BSA K-12 Educational Design Knowledge Community for a tour of Cambridge's newest public school, which showcases sustainable and resilient design. We will explore the innovative features of this 359,100 sq. ft. facility, designed to achieve net-zero emissions and expected LEED Platinum certification under the city's ambitious sustainability goals.
Experience how the school integrates indoor and outdoor learning environments, enhanced recreational spaces, a 1.25-million-gallon underground stormwater tank, and community-accessible areas that promote wellness. Plus, discover the project's commitment to equitable communities through pedestrian-friendly pathways, electric vehicle charging stations, and extensive green spaces. You'll also learn about innovative energy systems, healthy materials, and biophilic design elements that contribute to a nurturing educational environment.
