Free Webinar: Selecting Retrofit or Replacement Lighting, April 17
Event Description

This class provides a comprehensive approach to lighting retrofits to comply with the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) standards to evaluate all energy efficiency opportunities while delivering improved lighting quality. These opportunities include considerations of LED luminaires and components, advanced lighting controls systems, reflectances, space geometry, as well as project location, building orientation, and available daylight. Class content will go beyond simple component retrofits to include solutions with new fixtures and controls for deeper energy savings and will be relevant to existing buildings as well as new construction. This class will offer specific energy efficient lighting approaches and useful templates for typical spaces and conditions in commercial spaces.

The objective of this course is that at the conclusion, participants will be able to:

  • Identify advantages and disadvantages typical of lamp retrofit, integrated-optic kit retrofit, and luminaire replacement projects
  • Evaluate the performance of different retrofit products against one another to identify or equal or superior performance behavior
  • Discuss factors unrelated to the luminaire or lighting technology that might influence a lighting retrofit project
  • Identify application details to be weighed when recommending integration or discrete lighting controls as part of a retrofit project
