Event Description
Lower operational costs achieved with integrating renewable energy solutions boost the sustainability and resiliency of your indoor agricultural business. This introductory class for growers and design professionals will delve into integrating renewable energy sources such as solar, combined heat and power (CHP) with CO2 recapture, and geothermal into indoor farming systems. Key topics include the fundamentals of renewable energy technologies, common system integrations, and selecting the appropriate renewable energy systems. Additionally, the course addresses financial aspects, including funding opportunities for renewable energy adoption, and features case studies of successful implementation in agriculture.
The objective of this course participants will be able to:
Explain the fundamentals of renewable energy technologies.
Describe the integration of renewable energy systems in indoor agriculture.
Determine the best use case of renewable technology for a grower.
Evaluate financial considerations for renewable energy adoption.
Assess the environmental and operational benefits of renewable energy for indoor growers

Ethan Clifford is an Engineering Manager at ERI, where he oversees project development and quality control. Mr. Clifford works with a variety of agricultural customers to identify, manage, and verify energy-saving opportunities for their indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse operations. Additionally, Mr. Clifford is registered PE in Mechanical Engineering with a strong background in HVAC, pumping systems, hydronic systems, retro-commissioning, and utility incentive programs. Ethan received his masters in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley with an emphasis on Advanced Energy Technologies.
