In November 2021, at the conclusion of the UN Climate Change Conference (aka COP26), the organization's president announced that the Summit kept alive the goal of limiting climate change to 1.5 degrees C, but its pulse is weak. Earlier in the year, the UN Climate Change Report had declared a red alert for our planet.

Phil Giudice has 45 years’ experience in the energy industry as a geologist, entrepreneur, executive, board director and energy official in state and federal roles. Most recently, Phil served as Special Assistant to the President for Climate Policy during the startup of the Biden-Harris administration. Phil will synthesize the results of two weeks of intense negotiations, describe why this conference was important, and discuss where the U.S. will go from here.

      Phil has 45 years’ experience in the energy industry as a geologist, consultant, entrepreneur, executive, board director and energy official in state and federal roles. Most recently, Phil served as Special Assistant to the President for Climate Policy during the startup of the Biden- Harris administration. Phil is the Board Chair for FirstLight and served as board member for the Northeast Clean Energy Council, Prime Coalition, Clean Air Task Force and was Massachusetts Energy Undersecretary and Commissioner. He was founding board member, Treasurer and Vice Chair for the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), board chair National Association of Energy Officials as well as DOE’s State Energy Advisory Board, Energy Efficiency and Renewables Advisory Committee and EPA/DOE’s State Energy Efficiency Action Network. Phil also led and helped lead energy innovation startups including Ambri (formerly Liquid Metal Battery Corporation), EnerNOC (now EnelX), FirstFuel (now Uplight), and Nexus (now Aclara). Phil is also the grandfather of two toddlers who are the delight of his life and who he really wants to be able to tell them and all, how he helped create a better energy and climate future for us all when they ask why the world is the way it is.
