Free Webinar: Hot Water - Time to Tap, June 24, 9 am - 12 pm PT
Event Description

Waiting one to two minutes for hot water is excruciating. Yet we don't design our homes around this important goal of minimizing the time to get hot water at the tap. This intermediate level webinar covers the science of hot water distribution with guidelines to get Hot Water Time to Tap (TtT) down to 10 seconds, 20 seconds flat. This webinar will cover architectural compactness, pipe sizing, strategies for recirculation loop systems, and compare the energy efficiency of various systems. Participants will develop the capacity to specify faster TtT hot water systems that your clients will want to show off to their friends and neighbors. These TtT optimized systems are ideal for heat pump water heaters, help with Title 24 compliance, but most of all are a delight to live with.

Learning Objectives -

  • Understand the science of hot water distribution systems
  • Learn best practices for compact plumbing systems
  • Using case studies, learn how to specify short Time to Tap hot water systems ideal for use with heat pump water heaters
  • Comply with Title 24 requirements and take advantage of performance credits for smarter hot water distribution system design

    • Nick Brown

Nick Brown of Build Smart Group is an experienced educator on energy efficiency, electrification, and energy code. He is a member of the statewide energy code training team (Energy Code Ace), a Board Member of CABEC, a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA), and a frequent instructor for AIA, PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E on topics including All electric Homes, Heat Pumps, and Title 24. His training is targeted at specific audiences and engaging with clear explanation of key topics and application to the real world. He lives in an all electric home and managed the construction process to ensure it met ZNE goals and added an all electric ZNC ADU above the garage. Both homes produce data that is used in all of his courses to demonstrate the all electric low carbon lifestyle.
