Event Description

This year, the group will be touring from South Boston to the Seaport, following the coastline to explore the area’s emerging environmental design, development, and ecological significance. Coastal ecosystems are rich resources that provide flood protection, carbon sequestration, and major social/economic benefits. Because of these unique and highly valuable resources, building along the coast requires a careful plan and future-oriented design. With this tour, BE+ wants to highlight some of the City of Boston and local architecture and engineering firms’ efforts to strike a balance between growing development and resiliency, while working to preserve ecosystems and communities alike. Nature needs us, and we need nature.
