Preparing for Jobs in the Green Building Industry
Event Description

Explore the current green jobs landscape and how emerging professionals can grow their knowledge and differentiate themselves in the market.

The landscape of green jobs has continued to evolve since the Bureau of Labor Statistics first launched a comprehensive study to define and track jobs that support environmental sustainability in 2010. Evidence shows that the green economy- buildings, facilities management, architecture, janitorial, renewable energy etc. will only continue to grow. As the development on green buildings and communities shifts towards higher performance, what are the impacts and opportunities on the labor force? In this session we explore the current jobs landscape in the context of an evolving green building industry, and how emerging professionals can grow their knowledge and differentiate themselves through digital badges and green credentials.

Objectives

  1. Describe the evolving landscape of green jobs as it relates to the building industry
  2. Summarize how higher education institutions are preparing students for careers in the green building industry
  3. Access resources to grow your knowledge as a green professional.
  4. Describe different credentialing opportunities that differentiate you as a green professional.
