Event Description

CURC Webinar: Building Support for Waste Reduction Programs

Successful waste reduction programs change the ways institutions operate. Getting from the proposal stage to implemented program above all requires getting the buy-in of stakeholders that can include everyone from the president to department secretaries. This webinar will showcase how two schools have successfully built support for new initiatives. The University of Victoria will describe the steps taken to get support for removing trash bins from classrooms and to implement a new workstation collection program. Johnson County Community College’s sustainability office will share how they’ve used waste and financial metrics to build the credibility necessary to get composting, surplus property and other initiatives off the ground.
