PHPP v9.7 (IP) CLASS

The Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) is an easy to use, excel based energy modeling tool designed for use by architects, engineers and Passive House specialists.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS:

This course is aimed at US building design and engineering professionals that have a basic understanding of energy performance in buildings but no prior experience with the PHPP. It is especially suitable for graduates of the Certified Passive House Consultant / Designer program and those seeking to undertake Passive House energy modeling for building certification through the Passive House Institute. This course will utilize the IP (Inch-Pound) version of the PHPP which makes it ideal for the US and North American practitioners.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
* Clearly understand the structure of the PHPP model, the required inputs and the modeling process / sequence
* Learn to interpret the results of the PHPP model and understand how the model is structured
* Be able to better analyze project documents / drawings and classify elements properly for integration into the model
* Participants will be able to build a simple model using the software and execute all required steps.

FORMAT:
The course is designed to get those new to the PHPP quickly up and running through directed hands-on learning with the software. The class is a mixture of presentations by the experienced class instructors and guided in-class practice with the software by participants. This course features all new content which has been developed with the US market in mind and this class will take students all the way from start to completion of a sample project over the three days. Note that this course is focused on the PHPP excel tool only and does not include the new ‘DesignPH’ 3D modeling interface.

TRAINING MATERIALS AND REQUIREMENTS:
As part of the course students will receive a digital (print ready) copy of the presentation slides, as well as step-by-step walkthrough instruction slides for the in-class modeling exercises.

In order to fully participate, students will need their own fully operational laptop (PC or Mac with a full working copy of Microsoft Excel) with its own power cable. Please make sure that you know how to use the laptop and excel ahead of class. In addition, participants will need to have a full copy of the PHPP software Version 9.7 IP loaded onto their laptop.
