Event Description

This course is expected to be approved for 1 GBCI general and 1 AIA CEU.

Join at a building tour of the Bar-T Mountainside Camp and learn Commercial property assessed clean energy (“C-PACE”) financing can help you achieve your energy potential! C-PACE helps property owners cover 100% of the hard and soft costs of any permanently affixed construction measure that improves the energy efficiency of a property. It can be used for new construction/gut rehabilitation projects as well as retrofits. C-PACE financing is available through the MD-PACE program, a public private partnership that is administered by the MD Clean Energy Center and PACE Financial Servicing.

C-PACE financing was enabled in Maryland by state legislation in 2014. In the past two years, the number of C-PACE projects in Maryland has dramatically increased as property owners learn about this innovative financing mechanism. To date, the MD-PACE has facilitated the investment of over $13 million of energy efficiency improvements in properties across the state.

One of the recipients of this financing is Joe Richardson, owner of the Bar-T Mountainside Camp in Frederick, MD. As a long-time champion for sustainability in Maryland, Joe has had a vision for turning the Bar-T Mountainside farm campus into a smart-energy facility of the future. Bar-T Mountainside hosts summer camps, after-school clubs, and the Mountainside Retreat Center and Ropes Course. Its nonprofit, Mountainside Education and Enrichment, facilitates in-classroom and on-site outdoor environmental education. Joe used C-PACE to finance some of the energy efficiency innovations on his property, including the installation of solar generation capacity. Join in June to see what it’s all about!
