Event Description

Commissioning (CxA) Workshop on demand (watch at your convenience or livestream on December 9, 11:00 am Eastern): This 3-hr pre-recorded video will cover all aspects of commissioning ranging from project management to functional testing, and both new and existing building commissioning.

One-Hour Live Q&A session (December 9, 2:00 pm Eastern): This one-hour online session with our experienced instructors is an extension of the workshop, intended to allow clarification of concepts introduced in the workshop, replicating as much as possible the interaction from an in-person seminar. Those attending the Q&A session should view the workshop beforehand. 
(This session is NOT intended to directly address specific exam content.)

    • Darren Draper, PE, CxA, LEED AP, Epsten Group has 16 years of experience in the building services industry. He serves as commissioning agent on a wide range of facilities including university buildings, research laboratories, healthcare facilities, and data centers. He performs commissioning and retro-commissioning for HVAC, DDC controls, electrical, and plumbing systems. He also performs site investigation, equipment evaluation, corrective action, replacement part orders, energy-use evaluation, and reporting.

      Derek De Jesus, CxA, is an expert in medium voltage power systems, life safety, lighting control, security systems, power distribution and emergency power systems, and has extensive field and on-site experience, and an in-depth knowledge of mechanical and control systems required for validation and integration of multidisciplinary systems.

      Al LaPera, CxA, EMP, With 42 years of professional experience, Al has worked on a broad range of building types, including educational, healthcare, and commercial facilities. He is well versed in the design and analysis of HVAC systems and providing engineering services, including planning, analysis and construction observation from project inception through construction administration. His engineering expertise focuses on systems commissioning, energy analysis and energy auditing.

      Loren Morris, PE, CxA, EMP, LEED AP, is a licensed Professional Engineer and certified Commissioning Authority who has been involved in the construction industry since 1995. He has provided building commissioning and related services for a wide variety of industries and clients. Loren has been employed with a “contractor” role with building automation systems contractor, and a “designer” role for mechanical engineering consulting firms. Experience in each of these roles has helped to provide him with insight and perspective into the challenges that each of these disciplines brings, as well as unique involvement with the commissioning industry.
