Event Description

MillerKnoll, one of the largest and most influential design manufacturers in the world, has ambitious goals and faces complex obstacles on the path toward a more sustainable future. Gabe Wing and Thaddeus Owen, the company’s sustainability experts, will discuss these issues and how they execute ambitious 2030 goals for MillerKnoll.

Last April, the company announced a series of sustainability goals that will affect the company’s procedures from product design to building operations. By 2030, MillerKnoll plans to reduce its carbon emissions by 50%, eliminate single use plastics while significantly reducing all waste, to increase use of sustainably sourced materials and to use 50% more recycled content.

About the Health Materials Lab Fall 2022 Event Series: Demanding a World without Toxics

"At HML, we understand that change begins when we ask questions and have conversations with experts from different disciplines. We’re excited to have an amazing lineup of speakers this fall, all of whom are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in their own fields and whose knowledge and passion are absolutely needed."

What does it take to realize these goals on such a massive scale? What are the most effective routes towards minimizing carbon emissions and the use of toxics in design manufacturing? What are the obstacles that companies face when building towards a more sustainable future?
