TRUE Zero Waste: Best Practices in Action, A USGBC First Friday Webinar, December 5, 1 -2 pm ET
Event Description
As part of the monhtly First Friday Series, USGBC presents: TRUE Zero Waste: Best Practices in Action.
TRUE certification recognizes facilities, portfolios, events, and construction sites for achieving and maintaining a minimum of 90% waste diversion annually from landfills, incinerators, and the environment. A top goal is to recover valuable materials and to keep materials and related runoff from needlessly filling landfills and leaching into the surrounding environment. Managed by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), TRUE provides a comprehensive framework for implementing sustainable resource management practices including waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and anaerobic digestion, and excluding incineration processes. In addition to positive environmental and public health impacts, the benefits of waste reduction are many and include costs and energy associated with waste reduction, better resource management and utilization, and streamlined production and distribution systems. Companies pursuing TRUE certification are often recognized as leaders in waste management.
The next First Friday webinar will be January 6: Getting Green for Green: Using Sustainable Finance Strategies for Green Building Investments (pre recorded).
