Event Description

Join for 'The Future Of Suburbia' hosted by The BDA and The Suburban Alliance featuring International Keynote Speaker Dr Alan M Berger, Center for Advanced Urbanism, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.

Hosted by QUT this one day international event focuses on the opportunities for enhanced economic, community and property development of Australia’s suburban centres and landscape.

An international keynote address “Infinite Suburbia” by Dr Alan Berger (reflecting the title of a new global study into the suburban condition by Dr Berger and Joel Kotkin from Chapman University, California) will lead into a high powered plenary panel discussion, followed by three further moderated sessions highlighting:

A sustainable future for suburbia
The future of employment in suburbia
Planning the future of suburbia
Joining Alan Berger to debate the issues are civic leaders and experts in the development, urban planning, design and research disciplines.

This once only event will appeal to developers, urban planners, architects, economic and community development officials, infrastructure providers, government agencies, sustainability experts, and all professionals with an interest in the wider opportunities of urban development. International perspectives from global thought leaders will mix with local issues and point to practical solutions.
