Event Description

This webinar will provide an overview of daylighting strategies and describe guidelines and principles of good daylighting design that optimizes daylight availability while avoiding glare. The class will cover tools and metrics used to measure the effectiveness of a proposed daylighting design solution, as well as the importance of mitigating glare and the strategies to do it. Students will learn about the major benefits of a good daylighting design from energy efficiency to better indoor environmental quality leading to better occupant health and productivity.

The objective of this course is that at the conclusion, participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate strategies for daylighting design
  • Describe tools used in measuring effectiveness of various daylighting strategies
  • Explain glare and suggest ways to mitigate glare in buildings
  • Assess the major benefits of a daylighting strategy including effects on occupant health and productivity

      Mudit Saxena is the founder and principal of the research and consulting firm, Vistar Energy. He has over 15 years of experience providing consulting on a broad range of energy and environmental issues related to building energy efficiency. He has helped clients such as utilities, state and federal governments, develop building energy efficiency policies and programs. He has worked with international architecture firms and multinational companies to help develop and optimize buildings for energy efficiency in locations across the world.
